Meet Our Staff

Jessie Orenshein

  Youth Director

Jesse Orenshein has been working in the childcare field for 10 years. Beginning as a camp counselor and shul youth leader, Jesse continuously took on greater responsibility, until he became the Co-Director of MJ Sports Camp and the Director of our very own Youth Program. During the week, Jesse focuses his passion for childcare on his lifelong dream of writing children’s books. Under his brand Grandpa Herbie’s Stories, Jesse has published 8 rhyming picture books, with another 10 currently being illustrated. None of this stops him from competing on American Ninja Warrior, which he has done for the last two seasons and B”H will continue to do in the future.

MIKEY PORATTI

  Teen Minyan Director

Mikey Poratti, 15 years old, was born and raised in Pico-Robertson neighborhood of Los Angeles. He went to Torat Emet Hebrew Academy for elementary school, Tashbar for middle school and is currently in high school at Chofetz Chaim of Los Angeles Ohr Chanoch, lead by Rabbi Ishal and Rabbi Orenstien. He is currently learning Masechet Kiddushin, which talks about a husband and wife coming together and making the incredible eternal bond of marriage. On our own levels as young adults, one of the most important things is for us to have "Ahdut" a bond between us but what is the real meaning of "Ahdut" and how can we achieve it. He believe the true "bond" is the one between one and Hakadosh Baruch Hu, which is achieved through Tefillah and learning Torah; and once someone has those down, it will ultimately lead to the bond between friends. That is what we are trying to achieve with the teen minyan, to not only strengthen our bond with Hashem but also provide a social and interactive platform through which we can come close as friends.

We offer an amazing kiddush every week with full trays of wings from Jeff's and poppers from Lieder's, and weekly raffles of brand name t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and more. Please join us in the future weeks to fill every seat in.
